يَاأَيُّهَا O you

أَ مُنَ قَدَمَ بَا نَ يدي إِله رَسِلَ تقى إِلَٰه إِلَٰه سَمَعَ علِم


O you who believe! Do not put yourselves before Allah and His Messenger, but fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing and All-Knowing.

49:2


يَاأَيُّهَا O you

Yaayyuha

الَّذِينَ who

أَ مُنَ رَفَعَ صَاتَ فَاقَ صَاتَ نبأ جهر قَالَ جهر بَعَضَ بَعَضَ حَبَطَ عَمِلَ شعر


O you, who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, and do not publicly call him with words (with loud voices) as you call each other, lest your deeds get destroyed while you are unaware.

49:3


إِنَّ Indeed

الَّذِينَ those who

امْتَحَنَ has tested

قُلُوبَهُمْ their hearts

لِلتَّقْوَىٰ for righteousness

lilttaqwa
و ق ي
لَهُم For them

lahum

مَّغْفِرَةٌ (is) forgiveness

maghfiratun
غ ف ر
وَأَجْرٌ and a reward

waajrun
أ ج ر
عَظِيمٌ great

AAatheemun
ع ظ م
٣

غَضَن صَاتَ عَنَدَ رَسِلَ إِله مَحَنَ إِلَٰه قلب وقى غفر أَجَرَ عَظُمَ


The hearts of those who lower their voices in the presence of the Messenger of Allah are examined by Allah (Allah tests them) for piety (devoutness, God-fearing) -for them is forgiveness and great reward.

49:4


إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

الَّذِينَ those who

يُنَادُونَكَ call you

ندا رَأَى حَجَر كَثَرَ عَقَلَ


People who call you from behind the rooms (chambers) are not reasonable (intelligent, wise).

49:5


وَلَوْ And if

Walaw

أَنَّهُمْ they

annahum

صَبَرُوا had been patient

حَتَّىٰ until

تَخْرُجَ you came out

إِلَيْهِمْ to them

ilayhim

لَكَانَ certainly it would be

lakana
ك و ن
خَيْرًا better

لَّهُمْ for them

lahum

وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving

ghafoorun
غ ف ر
رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful

raheemun
ر ح م
٥

صَبَرَ خرج كَانَ خَيرَ إِلَٰه غفر رَحِمَ


It would be best for them to wait patiently until you come out to them. But Allah is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

49:6


يَاأَيُّهَا O you

Yaayyuha

الَّذِينَ who

قَوْمًا a people

بِجَهَالَةٍ in ignorance

فَتُصْبِحُوا then you become

عَلَىٰ over

فَعَلْتُمْ you have done

faAAaltum

نَادِمِينَ regretful

٦

أَ مُنَ جَاءَ فًسًق نبأ بَا نَ صاب قَامَ جَهِلَ صَبُحَ فَعَلَ نَدَمَ


O you, those who believe! When the unrighteous come to you with news, confirm with the clear proof (get it checked with indisputable evidence); otherwise, you may be (wrongly) aiming (going after) the nation in ignorance, and you will regret what you have done.

49:7


وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ And know

الْإِيمَانَ the Faith

وَزَيَّنَهُۥ and has made it pleasing

وَكَرَّهَ and has made hateful

الْكُفْرَ disbelief

وَالْفُسُوقَ and defiance

وَالْعِصْيَانَ and disobedience

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those

هُمُ (are) they

الرَّاشِدُونَ the guided ones

٧

علِم رَسِلَ إِله طَاعَ فِي كَثَرَ أمر لَعَنَ إِلَٰه حَبَّ يَمَنَ زَانَ فِي قلب كَرِهَ كَفَرَ فًسًق عَصَى رَشَدَ


And know that the Messenger of Allah is among you. You will be in difficulty if he follows many of you in decisions. But Allah loves you for being faithful, making it pleasing in your hearts, and making you dislike ungratefulness, immorality, and disobedience. Those are on a rightly guided path.

49:8


فَضْلًا A Bounty

عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knower

فَضَلَ إِله نَعَمَ إِلَٰه علِم حَكَمَ


Favor from Allah and His blessings. Allah is All-Knowing, with All the Wisdom.

49:9


وَإِن And if

طَآئِفَتَانِ two parties

فَأَصْلِحُوا then make peace

وَأَقْسِطُوٓا and act justly

يُحِبُّ loves

الْمُقْسِطِينَ those who act justly

٩

طَافَ أمُن قَتَلَ صَلَحَ بَا نَ بغى أحد أخر قَتَلَ بغى أمر إِله صَلَحَ بَا نَ عَدَلَ قسط إِلَٰه حَبَّ قسط


If there are disputes between two believers, then resolve between them. But if one oppresses the other, fight the oppressor until he returns to follow the commands of Allah. If returned, then make peace between them with justice and fairness. Allah loves those who act with fairness.

49:10


إِنَّمَا Only

Innama

الْمُؤْمِنُونَ the believers

إِخْوَةٌ (are) brothers

فَأَصْلِحُوا so make peace

بَيْنَ between

ب ي ن
أَخَوَيْكُمْ your two brothers

وَاتَّقُوا and fear

اللهَ Allah

Allaha
أ ل ه
لَعَلَّكُمْ so that you may

laAAallakum

تُرْحَمُونَ receive mercy

turhamoona

١٠

أمُن أ خو صَلَحَ بَا نَ أ خو تقى إِلَٰه رَحِمَ


The believers are brothers, so make peace between your brothers and fear Allah so you will have Mercy from Allah.

يَاأَيُّهَا O you

أَ مُنَ سَخَرَ قَامَ قَامَ عَسَى كَانَ خَيرَ نَسَأَ نَسَأَ عَسَى كَانَ خَيرَ لمز نفُس نَبَزَ لقب بَأْ س- بَؤُ سَ سَمِي فًسًق بعُد يَمَنَ تاب ظَلَمَ


O you who believe! A nation should not mock other nation; perhaps they are better than them. Nor shall women mock other women; maybe they are better than them. Nor shall you attach (attribute) yourself and not insult one another with insulting names (nicknames). The evil names are wickedness after faith. Whoever does not repent, then those are unjust.

١٢

أَ مُنَ جَنَبَ كَثَرَ ظَنَّ بَعَضَ ظَنَّ أثِم جَاسَ غَابَ بَعَضَ بَعَضَ حَبَّ أحد أكل لحم أ خو مَاتَ كَرِهَ تقى إِلَٰه إِلَٰه تاب رَحِمَ


O you who believe! Avoid many opinions (guessing); some views are sinful and do not intrigue. And do not backbite (slander, defame) one another. Would any of you like to eat the dead meat of his brother? (like a dead body that cannot defend against slander). You would hate that. So, fear Allah. Allah is Most Merciful and Accepts the Repentance.

يَاأَيُّهَا O you

Yaayyuha

النَّاسُ mankind!

وَقَبَآئِلَ and tribes

لِتَعَارَفُوٓا that you may know one another

إِنَّ Indeed

أَكْرَمَكُمْ (the) most noble of you

عِندَ near

اللهِ Allah

أَتْقَاكُمْ (is the) most righteous of you

إِنَّ Indeed

اللهَ Allah

Allaha

عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knower

خَبِيرٌ All-Aware

١٣

أَنِسَ خَلَقَ ذَكّرَ أَنُثَ جعل شعب قَبِلَ عَرَفَ كَرُمَ عَنَدَ إِله تقى إِلَٰه علِم خَبَرَ


O you, humankind! We created you from males and females and made you into races and tribes to be acquainted with each other. (The exchange of knowledge and skills among different cultures has greatly benefited human civilization. Advancements in research and global interaction have improved human lives.) The respected among you near Allah is the more pious (devoted to Allah and God-fearing). Allah is All-Knowing and All-Informed.

الْأَعْرَابُ the Bedouins

١٤

قَالَ عَرَب أَ مُنَ قَالَ أمُن قَالَ سلِم دَخَلَ يَمَنَ فِي قلب طَاعَ إِلَٰه رَسِلَ لَيْتَ عَمِلَ شِاءَ إِلَٰه غفر رَحِمَ


The Arab Bedouins say, “We believe.” Say, “You do not believe, but say, ‘We are Muslim (submitted),’ and the belief has not entered your hearts. But if you follow Allah and His Messenger, your deeds will not be reduced in anything. Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful.”

49:15


إِنَّمَا Only

Innama

الْمُؤْمِنُونَ the believers

وَجَاهَدُوا but strive

بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ with their wealth

وَأَنفُسِهِمْ and their lives

فِى in

سَبِيلِ (the) way

sabeeli
س ب ل
اللهِ (of) Allah

أ ل ه
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those

هُمُ [they]

الصَّادِقُونَ (are) the truthful

alssadiqoona
ص د ق
١٥

أمُن أَ مُنَ إِلَٰه رَسِلَ رَابَ جَهَدَ مَال نفُس فِي سَبَلَ إِله صَدَقَ


The believers believe in Allah and His Messenger, and after that, they did not doubt and strived with their wealth and with themselves (their lives) in Allah's cause (path). Those are truthful.

أَتُعَلِّمُونَ Will you acquaint?

بِكُلِّ of every

عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knower

١٦

قَالَ علِم إِلَٰه دان إِلَٰه علِم فِي سما فِي أَ رَضْ إِلَٰه كُلّ شِاءَ علِم


Say, “Do you inform Allah about your faith when Allah already knows what is in the universe and the earth, and Allah Knows everything?”

يَمُنُّونَ They consider (it) a favor

مَنَّ سلِم قَالَ مَنَّ سلِم إِلَٰه مَنَّ هَدَى أمُن كَانَ صَدَقَ


They considered it a favor to you that they were Muslims (embraced Islam). Say, “You are not doing me a favor with your beliefs, but Allah has favored you, and He Guided you with faith if you are truthful.”

إِلَٰه علِم غَابَ سما أَ رَضْ إِلَٰه بصُر عَمِلَ


Allah Knows the secrets of the universe and the earth and All-Seeing of what you do.
