47:1


الَّذِينَ Those who

Allatheena

كَفَرُوا disbelieve

وَصَدُّوا and turn away

كَفَرَ صَدَّ سَبَلَ إِله ضلّ عَمِلَ


Those who do not believe and hinder (obstruct) others from the path of Allah their deeds are lost.

47:2


وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

اٰمَنُواْ believe

الصَّالِحَاتِ righteous deeds

وَآمَنُوا and believe

كَفَّرَ He will remove

سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ their misdeeds

وَأَصْلَحَ and improve

waaslaha

بَالَهُمْ their condition

balahum

٢

أَ مُنَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ أمُن نَزَلَ حَمِدَ حَقَّ رَبَّ كَفَرَ سَا ءَ صَلَحَ بَال


While those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and believe in what was sent down on Muhammad صَلَّى ٱللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ‎ (Sallā llāhu ʿalayhī wa-ʾālihī wa-Sallam), (peace be upon him and his progeny) and that is the truth from their Rabb, their sins will be covered for them (expiate from them their misdeeds), and their conditions will be corrected.

ذَٰلِكَ That

Thalika

بِأَنَّ (is) because

لِلنَّاسِ to the people

أَمْثَالَهُمْ their similitudes

amthalahum
م ث ل
٣

كَفَرَ تبِع بَطَلَ أَ مُنَ تبِع حَقَّ رَبَّ ضَرَبَ إِلَٰه أَنِسَ مَثَلَ


Those who did not believe followed falsehood, while those who believed followed the truth from their Rabb. That is how Allah gives examples to humankind.

47:4


فَإِذا So when

وَإِمَّا or

فِدَآءً ransom

حَتَّىٰ until

تَضَعَ lays down

الْحَرْبُ the war

أَوْزَارَهَا its burdens

ذَٰلِكَ That

وَلَوْ And if

walaw

يَشَآءُ had willed

اللهُ Allah

Allahu

لَانتَصَرَ surely He could have taken retribution

مِنْهُمْ from them

minhum

وَلَٰكِن but

walakin

لِّيَبْلُوَ to test

liyabluwa

بَعْضَكُم some of you

baAAdakum
ب ع ض
بِبَعْضٍ with others

bibaAAdin
ب ع ض
وَالَّذِينَ And those who

waallatheena

قُتِلُوا are killed

qutiloo
ق ت ل
فِى in

fee

سَبِيلِ (the) way of

sabeeli

اللهِ Allah

Allahi
أ ل ه
فَلَن then never

falan

يُضِلَّ He will cause to be lost

yudilla
ض ل ل
أَعْمَالَهُمْ their deeds

aAAmalahum
ع م ل
٤

لقِي كَفَرَ ضَرَبَ رَقَبَ ثخُن شَدَّ وَثَقَ مَنَّ بعُد فَدَى ضَاعَ حَرِبَ وَزَرَ شِاءَ إِلَٰه نَصَرَ بلو بَعَضَ بَعَضَ قَتَلَ فِي سَبَلَ إِله ضلّ عَمِلَ


When you meet those (in the battle) who are nonbelievers, strike on their necks. When you wear them out, bind them firmly. Then, after that, be kind to them with grace or with the ransom until the war has come to an end (ammunition of war is put down). That is how (it should be). And if Allah wanted, He could have taken retribution from them, but He tests some of you with others. As for those who are killed in the path of Allah, their deeds will not be lost.

47:5


سَيَهْدِيهِمْ He will guide them

Sayahdeehim

وَيُصْلِحُ and improve

بَالَهُمْ their condition

هَدَى صَلَحَ بَال


He will guide them, and their conditions will be improved.

47:6


وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ And admit them

الْجَنَّةَ (to) Paradise

لَهُمْ to them

دَخَلَ جنّ عَرَفَ


And He will admit them into the Gardens. He has made known to them.

47:7


يَاأَيُّهَا O you

Yaayyuha

الَّذِينَ who

allatheena

اٰمَنُواْ believe!

تَنصُرُوا you help

اللهَ Allah

Allaha
أ ل ه
يَنصُرْكُمْ He will help you

yansurkum
ن ص ر
وَيُثَبِّتْ and make firm

أَقْدَامَكُمْ your feet

٧

أَ مُنَ نَصَرَ إِلَٰه نَصَرَ ثَبُتَ قَدَمَ


O you who believe! If you help Allah, He will help you and make you stand firmly (establish) on your feet.

47:8


وَالَّذِينَ But those who

Waallatheena

كَفَرُوا disbelieve

فَتَعْسًا destruction (is)

لَّهُمْ for them

lahum

وَأَضَلَّ and He will cause to be lost

أَعْمَالَهُمْ their deeds

٨

كَفَرَ تعِس ضلّ عَمِلَ


And (but) as those who did not believe, destruction for them, and He will cause them to lose their deeds.

47:9


ذَٰلِكَ That

Thalika

بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they

biannahum

كَرِهُوا hate

أَنزَلَ has revealed

اللهُ Allah

Allahu
أ ل ه
فَأَحْبَطَ so He has made worthless

faahbata

أَعْمَالَهُمْ their deeds

٩

كَرِهَ نَزَلَ إِلَٰه حَبَطَ عَمِلَ


That is because they did not like what Allah Revealed (sent down), so He made their deeds useless.

47:10


أَفَلَمْ Do not?

Afalam

يَسِيرُوا they travel

وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ and for the disbelievers

أَمْثَالُهَا its likeness

١٠

سَارَ فِي أَ رَضْ نَظَرَ كَيدَ كَانَ عَقَبَ قَبِلَ دَمَرَ إِلَٰه كَفَرَ مَثَلَ


Do they not travel on the earth to see how the end was for those before them? Allah destroyed them, and for the nonbelievers, it is similar.

47:11


ذَٰلِكَ That

Thalika

بِأَنَّ (is) because

bianna

اللهَ Allah

Allaha
أ ل ه
مَوْلَى (is the) Protector

mawla
و ل ي
الَّذِينَ (of) those who

allatheena

اٰمَنُواْ believe

amanoo
أ م ن
وَأَنَّ and that

waanna

الْكَافِرِينَ the disbelievers

ك ف ر
لَا (there is) no

مَوْلَىٰ protector

و ل ي
لَهُمْ for them

lahum

١١

إِلَٰه وَلِيَ أَ مُنَ كَفَرَ وَلِيَ


That is because Allah supports those who believe, and for the nonbelievers, there is no supporter for them.

47:12


إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

اللهَ Allah

Allaha

يُدْخِلُ will admit

وَالَّذِينَ but those who

يَتَمَتَّعُونَ they enjoy

وَيَأْكُلُونَ and eat

الْأَنْعَامُ the cattle

وَالنَّارُ and the Fire

مَثْوًى (will be) an abode

لَّهُمْ for them

lahum

١٢

إِلَٰه دَخَلَ أَ مُنَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ جنّ جَرَى تحْت نهر كَفَرَ مَتَعَ أكل أكل نَعَمَ نَار ثوى


Allah will enter those who believe and do righteous deeds into gardens beneath which rivers flow. As for those who did not believe, let them enjoy themselves and eat as the animals eat, and will eventually dwell in the fire.

47:13


وَكَأَيِّن And how many

Wakaayyin

مِّن of

قَرْيَةٍ a town

أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ We destroyed them

لَهُمْ for them

١٣

قَرَى شَدَّ قَوِيَ قَرَى خرج هَلَكَ نَصَرَ


And how many dwellings were more powerful than the dwelling that drove you out? We destroyed them, and there was no helper for them.

47:14


أَفَمَن Then is (he) who?

Afaman

عَمَلِهِۦ (of) his deeds

وَاتَّبَعُوٓا while they follow

أَهْوَآءَهُم their desires

ahwaahum
ه و ي
١٤

كَانَ بَا نَ رَبَّ زَانَ سَا ءَ عَمِلَ تبِع هوى


Is he who has clear proof (plain, evident) from his Rabb, like someone whose evil deeds have been decorated for him? And they follow their desires?

مَثَلَ جنّ وَعَدَ تقى نهر مَا ءَ غير NF نهر لبْن غير طَعِمَ نهر خَمَرَ لذّ شَرِبَ نهر NF صَفَا كُلّ ثَمَرَ غَنِمَ رَبَّ خَلَدَ فِي نَار سَقَى مَا ءَ حَمَّ قَطَعَ NF


The example of the Paradise promised for the God-fearing: in this, there are rivers of water that will not go stale, and there are rivers of milk that will not change their food, and rivers of drinks made tasty for the drinkers and rivers of selected honey. And for them, there will be all kinds of fruits and forgiveness from their Rabb. (Can they be) Like one who will live eternally in the fire and be made to drink hot water that will cut through their intestines?

47:16


وَمِنْهُم And among them

Waminhum

مَّن (are some) who

man

يَسْتَمِعُ listen

خَرَجُوا they depart

قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts

وَاتَّبَعُوٓا and they follow

أَهْوَآءَهُمْ their desires

ahwaahum
ه و ي
١٦

سَمَعَ خرج عَنَدَ قَالَ أتى علِم قَالَ طَبَعَ إِلَٰه قلب تبِع هوى


Among them are those who listen to you, but then they go out (of your company) from you, then say to those who are given knowledge, “What did he say just now?” Allah has put a stamp (seal) on their hearts, and they follow their desires.

47:17


وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

اهْتَدَوْا accept guidance

زَادَهُمْ He increases them

هُدًى (in) guidance

وَآتَاهُمْ and gives them

أ ت ي
تَقْواهُمْ their righteousness

هَدَى زَادَ هَدَى أتى تقى


And for those who accept guidance, He increases their guidance and makes them attain devoutness (fear of Allah).

47:18


فَهَلْ Then do?

Fahal

يَنظُرُونَ they wait

السَّاعَةَ (for) the Hour

تَأْتِيَهُم it should come to them

بَغْتَةً suddenly

فَقَدْ But indeed

جَآءَ have come

أَشْرَاطُهَا its indications

فَأَنَّىٰ Then how?

أ ن ي
لَهُمْ to them

lahum

إِذَا when

itha

جَآءَتْهُمْ has come to them

jaathum
ج ي أ
ذِكْرَاهُمْ their reminder

thikrahum
ذ ك ر
١٨

نَظَرَ سَاعته أتى بَغَتَ جَاءَ شَرَطَ أنى جَاءَ ذَكّرَ


Are they waiting for the time to come to them suddenly? It already came from its preconditions (signs started to come). But what (is the benefit) for them when their report (of their deeds) has (already) come to them?

47:19


فَاعْلَمْ So know

أَنَّهُۥ that [He]

وَاسْتَغْفِرْ and ask forgiveness

لِذَنبِكَ for your sin

وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ and for the believing men

walilmumineena
أ م ن
وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ and the believing women

waalmuminati
أ م ن
وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
يَعْلَمُ knows

yaAAlamu
ع ل م
مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ your movement

mutaqallabakum
ق ل ب
وَمَثْوَىٰكُمْ and your resting places

wamathwakum
ث و ي
١٩

علِم إِله إِلَٰه غفر ذَنْب أمُن أمُن إِلَٰه علِم قلب ثوى


Then know that there is no god except Allah, and ask forgiveness for your sins and the believing men and women. Allah knows your movements and settlement (resting place).

وَيَقُولُ And say

قَالَ أَ مُنَ نَزَلَ سُور نَزَلَ سُور حَكَمَ ذَكّرَ قَتَلَ رَأَى فِي قلب مَرِضَ نَظَرَ نَظَرَ غَشَا مَاتَ وَلِيَ


Those who believe say, “If only a verse is sent down.” Yet when the verse is sent down with the decision and is mentioned to fight, you see those sick in their hearts with the look of fainting with death on him. So, it would be more appropriate for them! continued to next verse.

طَاعَةٌ (Is) obedience

وَقَوْلٌ and a word

مَّعْرُوفٌ kind

فَإِذَا And when

faitha

عَزَمَ (is) determined

الْأَمْرُ the matter

فَلَوْ then if

صَدَقُوا they had been true

اللهَ (to) Allah

لَكَانَ surely it would have been

خَيْرًا better

لَّهُمْ for them

lahum

٢١

طَاعَ قَالَ عَرَفَ عَزَمَ أمر صَدَقَ إِلَٰه كَانَ خَيرَ


(to be) Obedient and (be with) kind words. When the matter was decided (to fight), if they were true to Allah, that would have been better for them.

47:22


فَهَلْ Then would?

Fahal

عَسَيْتُمْ you perhaps

تَوَلَّيْتُمْ you are given authority

تُفْسِدُوا you cause corruption

فِى in

الْأَرْضِ the earth

وَتُقَطِّعُوٓا and cut off

watuqattiAAoo

أَرْحَامَكُمْ your ties of kinship

arhamakum
ر ح م
٢٢

عَسَى وَلِيَ فَسَدَ فِي أَ رَضْ قَطَعَ رَحِمَ


If you disobey (by) turning away, you will cause mischief in the earth and cut off the kinship.

47:23


أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those

Olaika

الَّذِينَ (are) the ones

allatheena

لَعَنَهُمُ has cursed them

laAAanahumu
ل ع ن
اللهُ Allah

Allahu
أ ل ه
فَأَصَمَّهُمْ so He made them deaf

faasammahum
ص م م
وَأَعْمَىٰٓ and blinded

waaAAma
ع م ي
أَبْصَارَهُمْ their vision

absarahum
ب ص ر
٢٣

لَعَنَ إِلَٰه صَمَّ عَمِيَ بصُر


Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed. So He made them deaf and blinded their vision.

47:24


أَفَلَا Then do not?

Afala

يَتَدَبَّرُونَ they ponder

دبر قَرَأَ قلب قَفَلَ


Do they not contemplate the Al-Quran? Or have their hearts been locked out?

إِنَّ Indeed

الَّذِينَ those who

تَبَيَّنَ (has) become clear

الْهُدَى (of) the guidance

الشَّيْطَانُ Shaitaan

سَوَّلَ enticed

س و ل
لَهُمْ [for] them

lahum

وَأَمْلَىٰ and prolonged hope

waamla
م ل و
لَهُمْ for them

lahum

٢٥

رَدَّ دبر بعُد بَا نَ هَدَى شَيَطن سأل مَلَأَ


Indeed, for those who rejected and turned their backs after the guidance became clear to them (they disbelieved after believing), the shaitan seduced them that (if they disbelieved) they could enjoy for a long time.

47:26


ذَٰلِكَ That

Thalika

بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they

قَالُواْ [they] said

نَزَّلَ has revealed

الْأَمْرِ (of) the matter

وَٱللّٰهُ But Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
يَعْلَمُ knows

yaAAlamu
ع ل م
إِسْرَارَهُمْ their secrets

israrahum
س ر ر
٢٦

قَالَ كَرِهَ نَزَلَ إِلَٰه طَاعَ فِي بَعَضَ أمر إِلَٰه علِم أسر


That is because they (the hypocrites) said to those (Jews) who did not like what Allah had sent down, “We will follow you in some of the matters.” But Allah knows their secrets.

47:27


فَكَيْفَ Then how?

تَوَفَّتْهُمُ take them in death

الْمَلَآئِكَةُ the Angels

يَضْرِبُونَ striking

وُجُوهَهُمْ their faces

و ج ه
وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ and their backs

waadbarahum
د ب ر
٢٧

كَيدَ وَفَى ملك ضَرَبَ وَجَهَ دبر


Then, how about when the angels bring death to them, beating on their faces and backs?

47:28


ذَٰلِكَ That

Thalika

بِأَنَّهُمُ (is) because they

اتَّبَعُواْ followed

اللهَ Allah

Allaha
أ ل ه
وَكَرِهُوا and hated

wakarihoo

رِضْوَانَهُ His pleasure

فَأَحْبَطَ so He made worthless

أَعْمَالَهُمْ their deeds

aAAmalahum
ع م ل
٢٨

تبِع سَخَطَ إِلَٰه كَرِهَ رَضِيَ حَبَطَ عَمِلَ


That is because they followed what brings anger to Allah and disliked what pleases Him, so their deeds were made useless.

47:29


أَمْ Or do

حَسَبَ فِي قلب مَرِضَ خرج إِلَٰه ضَغِنَ


Do those with sickness in their hearts think Allah will not bring out their inner grudges?

47:30


وَلَوْ And if

نَشَآءُ We willed

لَأَرَيْنَاكَهُمْ surely We could show them to you

فَلَعَرَفْتَهُم and you would know them

بِسِيمَاهُمْ by their marks

وَلَتَعْرِفَنَّهُمْ but surely you will know them

لَحْنِ (the) tone

الْقَوْلِ (of their) speech

ق و ل
وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
يَعْلَمُ knows

yaAAlamu

أَعْمَالَكُمْ your deeds

aAAmalakum
ع م ل
٣٠

شِاءَ رَأَى عَرَفَ سِيمَا عَرَفَ فِي لَحَنَ قَالَ إِلَٰه علِم عَمِلَ


And if We wanted, We could have shown them to you so that you would recognize them with their marks. Certainly, you will know them by the tone of their words. And Allah knows your deeds.

47:31


وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ And surely We will test you

حَتَّىٰ until

نَعْلَمَ We make evident

الْمُجَاهِدِينَ those who strive

مِنكُمْ among you

minkum

وَالصَّابِرِينَ and the patient ones

waalssabireena
ص ب ر
وَنَبْلُوَا and We will test

wanabluwa
ب ل و
أَخْبَارَكُمْ your affairs

akhbarakum
خ ب ر
٣١

بلو علِم جَهَدَ صَبَرَ بلو خَبَرَ


And We will test you until We know those who are making efforts among you and are patient (in adversity), and We will examine you thoroughly.

شَيْئًا (in) anything

وَسَيُحْبِطُ and He will make worthless

أَعْمَالَهُمْ their deeds

aAAmalahum
ع م ل
٣٢

كَفَرَ صَدَّ سَبَلَ إِله شَقَّ رَسِلَ بعُد بَا نَ هَدَى ضَرَّ إِلَٰه شِاءَ حَبَطَ عَمِلَ


Indeed, those who did not believe and opposed the path of Allah, and separated from the Messenger after the guidance was made clear to them, would never be able to make a loss for Allah in anything. And He will make their deeds useless.

يَاأَيُّهَا O you

Yaayyuha

الَّذِينَ who

اٰمَنُواْ believe!

وَأَطِيعُوا and obey

الرَّسُولَ the Messenger

تُبْطِلُوٓا make vain

أَعْمَالَكُمْ your deeds

aAAmalakum

٣٣

أَ مُنَ طَاعَ إِلَٰه طَاعَ رَسِلَ بَطَلَ عَمِلَ


O you who believe! Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and do not make your deeds useless.

47:34


إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

الَّذِينَ those who

يَغْفِرَ will forgive

لَهُمْ them

lahum

٣٤

كَفَرَ صَدَّ سَبَلَ إِله مَاتَ كَفَرَ غفر إِلَٰه


Those who do not believe and turn away from the path of Allah and then die while they are nonbelievers, Allah will never forgive them.

فَلَا So (do) not

الْأَعْلَوْنَ (are) superior

وَٱللّٰهُ and Allah

مَعَكُمْ (is) with you

maAAakum

وَلَن and never

walan

يَتِرَكُمْ will deprive you

yatirakum
و ت ر
أَعْمَالَكُمْ (of) your deeds

aAAmalakum
ع م ل
٣٥

هَانَ دَعَا سلِم عَلَا إِلَٰه ترك عَمِلَ


So, never become easy (neglectful), and call to the peace while you are elevated. Allah is with you, and He will never abandon (make unrewarded) your deeds.

إِنَّمَا Only

Innama

الْحَيَاةُ the life

وَإِن And if

تُؤْمِنُوا you believe

وَتَتَّقُوا and fear (Allah)

يُؤْتِكُمْ He will give you

yutikum
أ ت ي
أُجُورَكُمْ your rewards

أ ج ر
وَلَا and not

wala

يَسْأَلْكُمْ will ask you

yasalkum
س أ ل
أَمْوَالَكُمْ (for) your wealth

amwalakum
م و ل
٣٦

حي دَنَا لَعِبَ لها أمُن تقى أتى أَجَرَ سأل مَال


The life of this world is only playing and enjoying. But if you believe and are fearful, you will be given your rewards, and He Does not ask you for your possessions (wealth).

إِن If

In

يَسْأَلْكُمُوهَا He were to ask you for it

تَبْخَلُوا you will withhold

وَيُخْرِجْ and He will bring forth

٣٧

سأل حاف بخِل خرج ضَغِنَ


If He were to ask you about it (your wealth), you would restrict (limit), you would become stingy, and your resentments will be brought up.

هَٰٓأَنتُمْ Here you are

Haantum

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ these

تُدْعَوْنَ called

لِتُنفِقُوا to spend

سَبِيلِ (the) way

sabeeli

اللهِ (of) Allah

فَمِنكُم but among you

يَبْخَلُ withhold

وَمَن and whoever

waman

يَبْخَلْ withholds

فَإِنَّمَا then only

fainnama

يَبْخَلُ he withholds

نَّفْسِهِۦ himself

وَٱللّٰهُ But Allah

الْغَنِىُّ (is) Free of need

وَأَنتُمُ while you

الْفُقَرَآءُ (are) the needy

وَإِن And if

تَتَوَلَّوْا you turn away

يَسْتَبْدِلْ He will replace you

يَكُونُوا they will be

أَمْثَالَكُمْ (the) likes of you

amthalakum

٣٨

دَعَا نفق فِي سَبَلَ إِله بخِل بخِل بخِل نفُس إِلَٰه غنِي فَقَرَ وَلِيَ بَدَلَ قَامَ غير كَانَ مَثَلَ


Here you are, asked to spend in the path of Allah. Among you (some) who become stingy and whoever becomes stingy has stinginess on himself. Allah is above any need, while you are the needy. And if you turn away, He will replace your nation with another, and they will not be like you.
